MLB DFS Plays 8/5

These are my 3 Daily DFS picks for August 5th, 2018

Danny Valencia – Baltimore Orioles 2B – Owned 2%- Salary $3,800

After recently shipping away Jonathan Schoop and Manny Machado, Danny Valencia has slid into an everyday starting role. This afternoon he faces Martin Perez and the Rangers on the road. Priced at a measly $3,800, Valencia is a great value play in an amazing matchup.

On the season, Perez holds a 6.03 ERA, 2.16 WHIP, and .370 BAA vs righties. On the other hand, Valencia has swung a hot bat lately, batting .458\.480 \.500 over the past two weeks. Valencia has also hit great since his recent move to the 4th spot in the lineup, with a .934 OPS.

Another reason to make sure to get Valencia and your lineups this afternoon is the ability to crush left-handed pitching. This season he boasts a .320\.381\.534 slash line vs lefties and is a strong bet for great production today.

Nick Williams – Philadelphia Phillies OF – Owned 11% – Salary $4,100

Ever since the Phillies sent Aaron Altherr down, Nick Williams has been crushing the ball as the new RF. Over the past month, Williams has hit into a 315/.376/.511 slashline along with 6 homers and 18 RBI’s. This afternoon he will face Dan Straily and the Marlins at home, in a favorable hitting matchup.

Straily, a righty, has struggle against lefties, allowing 8 homers in only 45 IP. On the other hand, Williams has crushed righties this year to the tune of 22 XBH, and solid .206 ISO. Also, Williams has posted solid career splits vs Straily, batting .400 with a few RBI’s. On the whole, Williams is a must play vs the Dan Straily and Marlins tomorrow afternoon.
