Paul previews today’s game action and shares his top Draft Kings plays for September 15th.
Today we have 15 games on the MLB schedule starting at 7:05 pm as well as a 1:35 game in Pittsburgh that’s a part of a day/night doubleheader. As always, double-check your lineup prior to the start of each contest for any late scratches and be sure to check the weather report before game time for potential delays or cancellations. There doesn’t appear to be any games in danger of being postponed today.
It’s my wife’s birthday today, and I’m reallocating her birthday dinner money towards today’s contests. What could possibly go wrong? I wouldn’t actually do that but I am feeling lucky today; almost as lucky as being married to such a great girl. You can find my poetry and other romantic works at www.NobodyCares.com or read below for today’s top DFS plays.
I’m glad you’re still here; I worked hard on these picks. I am on a Cespedes-like tear with my DFS picks this month, so hopefully you can choose a few names from the chart below and win yourself some cash. Just like I’ll be spoiling my wife tonight, I’ll spoil you all with my full lineup(s) on Twitter throughout the day. Good luck.
|Bargain price for Strasburg against the Phillies are 2nd worst club in past 2 weeks with a .287 wOBA with a 23.6% K rate.|
|deGrom has a 1.47 ERA at home this year and is 3-0, 1.80 ERA against the Marlins lifetime. Marlins have .305 wOBA last 30 days.|
|Hernandez has gotten back on track with 3 straight 8-inning wins. Angels have just a .306 wOBA over the past 2 weeks.|
|The Rockies are the 4th worst hitting club against LHP this year. Anderson is 1-0 in 2 starts with a 1.74 ERA against them in ’15.|
|Samardzija is getting worse as the season goes on, but was strong against A’s earlier this yr. They have a .318 wOBA in past 2 wks.|
|Three of Medlen’s four starts this year have been very good. Indians are hot and there’s a lot of risk here, but a solid GPP play.|
|Martinez is a fair bit better on the on the road holding opponents to a .228 AVG. He shut out the Brewers the last time they met.|
||Giants, Reds, Orioles
|Jon Lamb, Chris Heston and Joe Kelly make for high-risk plays today at very good prices. Quite a fun menu for SP tonight.|
|McCann has 19 HR vs RHP this year and is 11-17 with 7 XBH lifetime, including 6-7 with a HR this year against Odorizzi.
|Usually saved for his games vs LHP, Martin has hit Teheran well in the past (incl. a HR this yr) and has 4 home runs in his last 9 GS.
|C||Salvador Perez||Josh Tomlin
|Perez hits RHP much better than LHP and, for what it’s worth was 7-8 against Tomlin last year with 2 doubles and a home run.|
|Ortiz has nearly a 1.500 OPS over the past 2 weeks. Jimenez has given up 11 HR in just 60 second-half innings of work.
|Fielder is batting .334/.402/.474 against RHP this year. McHugh is better against LHH, but Fielder is 4-6 this year against him.|
|This is as cheap as Cabrera gets on DK. His dominance over Hughes in the past may get him out of this slump. (17-36, 5 HR)|
|Davis is hitting .400/.564/1.000 over the past 2 weeks. He has 23 second-half home runs and has a .600 OBP in September.
|Altuve hit a HR against Cole Hamels last night and is hitting .380 vs southpaws for the season. He’s 5-12 lifetime against Perez.|
|2B||Kolten Wong||Ariel Pena
|I’d have like Wong to be a little cheaper, but can’t resist this match-up with Wong hitting .281 with 34 XBH vs RHP in 351 AB.|
|2B||Anthony Rendon||David Buchanan
|Rendon is coming alive, hitting over .300 this month, with his 2nd HR last night. RHH are slugging .608 against Buchanan this year.|
|11 second-half home runs and a .295/.361/.473 line vs RHP make Moustakas a solid choice. He’s also 5-12 with 2 HR vs Tomlin|
|Carpenter is hitting .277/.377/.496 against RHP this year and has gotten on base 19 of the last 20 games.|
|A total wildcard play, Sandoval is hitting just .213 in the second half. He’s 13-36 with 2 HR lifetime against Jimenez though.|
|Harrison has 9 hits in his past 4 games including 2 doubles. He’s upped his AVG vs LHP to .288 this year after mashing .345 in ’14.|
|Buchanan has a 11.12 ERA in the second half with a 2.38 WHIP. Desmond is 2-3 against him this year with a double.|
|Correa might be worth the money, hitting .298/.364/.596 vs LHP. Perez is allowing RHH to bat .317/.377/.470 against him.|
|SS||Andrelton Simmons||Mark Buehrle||$2,900||★★|
|A decent punt play as Simmons is hitting .287 since the AS break. Buehrle meanwhile is struggling with a 4.58 second-half ERA.|
|I like any National who is in the lineup today, and I’d be tempted here as well if it meant I could squeeze in an extra top bat.|
|OF||Bryce Harper||David Buchanan
|Harper went 0-1 with 2 BB against Buchanan this year. MLB’s top bat vs it’s worst arm means he’ll be highest owned player today.|
|OF||Jason Heyward||Ariel Pena||$4,300||★★★★|
|Heyward is hitting .301/.355/.471 vs RHP and has a .324 mark in the second half. He’s been on base 14 times in last 7 games.|
|OF||Mookie Betts||Ubaldo Jimenez
|Betts is batting over .400 with an OPS topping 1.100 this month. Jimenez has given up 11 2nd-half HR with a 6.53 ERA.|
|OF||Chris Denorfia||J.A. Happ
|With the big arms and bats today, we’ll need a couple punt plays. Denorfia is 6-17 with 2 home runs against Happ.|
|OF||Alex Gordon||Josh Tomlin
|Gordon got 4 hits last night including a home run as he rounds into shape. Has a .823 OPS vs Tomlin in 35 PA.|
|It’s remarkable what Cespedes has been doing in September as he hit his 9th HR of the month last night. Nobody is safe.|
|Choo is hitting .287/.386/.500 vs RHP this year and has a .324 average in September. McHugh is generally tough on LHH though.|
|OF||Byron Buxton||Alfredo Simon
|Buxton has gotten on base in 4 straight games as he hopefully shows some of his promise this month. Facing Simon can’t hurt.|
|OF||Mike Trout||Felix Hernandez||$4,200||★★★|
|Trout is dirt-cheap today against King Felix whom he has a .970 OPS in 66 PA against. He’s showing signs of busting out.|
|OF||Ben Revere||Julio Teheran
|Revere is hitting .367 in September and is hitting .322 against RHP this year. He’s 4-13 with 2 triples and a SB against Teheran.|
