These are my 3 Daily DFS picks for August 28th, 2018
Salaries are based on draftkings.com
Ben Gamel – Seattle Mariners OF – Owned 0% – Salary $3,700
Gamel has his hit the ball well in his limited opportunities this season, batting .292 in 212 at bats with 6 stolen bases. On the season, Gamel has hit much better against righties batting .308 in 170 at-bats this season with 13 of his 17 XBH. Gamel also holds a very solid .349 wOBA and 125 wRC+ on the season versus right-handed pitching.
On the contrary, Jacob Nix has struggled mightily in his first few starts, putting him at a 6.17 ERA, and he has been even worse against lefties, posting a 12.00 ERA, .379 BAA, and 2.17 WHIP against them this season. Gamel is also on fire right now, posting a .364 BA and 1.026 OPS over the last month. Also, while Gamel has hit much better at home this season (.881 OPS), Nix has had a hard time pitching at home, with a 6.75 ERA, and .860 OPS.
Overall, Gamel is a great option because of his high floor, and low price.
Matt Adams – St. Louis Cardinals 1B – Owned 19% – Salary $3,900
After a scorching hot first half, Adams has quietly cooled down, bringing him to a solid slashline of .252/.359/.500. Adams was recently claimed off waivers and then traded for, by his former team, the playoff chasing St. Louis Cardinals. Generally a righty crusher for his career, Ivan Nova is a perfect matchup for the left-handed slugger tonight in St. Louis.
This season, Adams has posted some of his best power numbers ever vs righties with a .269 ISO, .368 wOBA, and 130 wRC+, while Nova has an atrocious 1.61 HR/9 and ugly 5.13 xFIP against lefties. Adams .311 home ISO also proves that he plays better in front of his hometown fans.
Adams value is too much to pass on for such a low price, and he is a must play against Bucs in his new home field park, Busch Stadium.
