MLB DFS Plays 8/25

These are my 3 Daily DFS picks for August 25th, 2018

Salaries are based on

Evan Longoria – San Francisco Giants 3B – Owned 42% – Salary $3,900

For his career, Longoria’s “split” against LHP is almost comical: .877 OPS, 134 wRC+, .234 ISO, .368 wOBA, and .577 SLG. Tonight he faces Martin Perez and the Rangers at home and should be in store for a great game. On the season, Longoria holds a .297 BA, .878 OPS with 7 homers, and a .246 ISO against southpaws. Longoria also has excellent splits vs Martin Perez with a .462 BA in 13 at-bats, along with 2 homers and 9 RBI.

Moreover, Longoria is in the midst of a power surge, hitting 3 homers in his last 7 games. while Perez has struggled lately allowing 13 runs in 11 innings over his last two starts. Making matters even worse (or better!), Perez has been rocked by righties this season allowing a .373 BAA, 12 homers, and a 2.11 WHIP. On the whole, Longoria has an amazing matchup tonight, and because he is only valued at $3,900, he is a must-play.

Neil Walker – New York Yankees UTIL – Owned 6$ – Salary $3,700

Facing a struggling Orioles pitcher in Andrew Cashner, Walker should have plenty of RBI opportunities batting out of the 5-spot. Walker is basically the only cheap Yankee bat tonight, and, what’s more, he has a great matchup in an extreme hitters park — Camden Yards. Plus, Walker is on a tear as of late, batting .500 with a homer in the past week, and he typically hits better from the left side for his career (.800 OPS).

On the other hand, Cashner has really struggled vs lefties this season with a 5.19 ERA and 13 homers allowed in 67.2 IP; he has also allowed a 1.73 HR/9 along with a crummy 5.33 FIP. Get him in your lineup tonight against the O’s, who more and more are resembling their franchise ancestor — the anemic St. Louis Browns.

Top 3 Hitters

  1. Giancarlo Stanton vs Jacob Yacabonis
  2. Manny Machado vs Brett Kennedy
  3. Freddie Freeman vs Wei Yin Chin
