MLB DFS Plays 7/30

These are my 3 Daily DFS picks for July 30th, 2018

  • All players are under 50% Owned and all Salaries are based off of

Evan Longoria- San Francisco Giants 3B – Owned 43% – Salary=$3,900

After returning from a hand injury, Longoria has hit a respectable, if underwhelming, 4-14 with no homers. But I expect that to change tonight. Longoria faces a lefty (Eric Lauer) and boasts excellent splits against left-handed pitching, both this year and over his career. In 2018, Longoria has batted .311 with a .589 SLG and a .979 OPS against lefties. He also holds a .278 Isolated Power Rating against them (wow!) and has 6 of his 10 homers against southpaws this season. What’s more, Lauer has come apart in his last two starts, allowing 11 earned runs in only 6 innings. He has also struggled pitching to righties this year. On the season, he has a 5.06 ERA against them and has allowed a .305 BAA. In short, Longoria is a must-play tonight vs the Padres–and he costs a measly $3,900 at that!

Steven Souza Jr.- Arizona Diamondbacks RF – Owned 22% – Salary=$4,100

After breaking out last year with 30 homers and 78 RBI, Souza’s 2018 campaign has been disappointing. In the past two weeks, however, he has begun to show signs of life, batting .310 with a homer and 9 RBI. The main reason to play Souza tonight is because of a fabulous matchup vs Martin Perez and the Rangers. On the season, Perez holds a 7.08 ERA, and 2.02 WHIP. He has also allowed 8 homers to righties so far, and has allowed 53 hits in only 31.2 innings vs them. On the other hand, Souza has hit very well against lefties, with a .324 average, .356 WOBA, and 122 wRC+. Get Souza in your lineup tonight at Chase Field.
